light and composition wise the images are working, the narrative however is a bit too literal at this stage. for instance instead of showing the word, obituaries, it could be focused on the hands more with the obits, slightly visible... instead of the whole wrecked car, perhaps just a detail.. maybe instead of the cemetery sign, the image is shot through the black iron fence... trust your ability to communicate with light and composition and let the viewer put the pieces together...
Some of these are really reminding me of the Crewdson image sets, very deliberate in their execution, and using light in a way that seems natural at first glance, but upon further inspection, seems very purposeful and studied. Albeit a bit "obvious" in areas, the set is very somber and I feel it's quite powerful, especially the first 3.
not really sure if I'm on the right track with this or not...

ReplyDeleteOk, I've been struggling with the whole concept of light as metaphor so wasn't sure if these were even on the right track
Deleteyes its in the right direction, it simply needs to suggest and elude to the idea more than showing it directly
ReplyDeletegoing to do some tweaking and will update the post later tonight
